Default 1975 AMF build?

Hey just trying to an estimate about how much it will take to build this bike back up. I know thats hard but just asking for a rough round-about estimate. My dads bike was passed down to me and I really love this freakin thing. Its a 1975 electra glide, it was blue with the white saddle bags and banana seat, it is a shovelhead. By dad never took care of it so the only thing that can be saved is the frame, motor, both fenders. I want to redue everything. Get new brakes, new tranny (6 speed), new wheels, wiring harness, front end, new paint, maybe a little bit of a rake, and the list could go on and on. Is it really worth droping 20k into this thing

Maybe just sentimental value. I'd like a 1976 money pit because thats the year i was born.

Just an opinion but I think many, if not most would agree - if you're willing to drop some serious money into it, put it back as original and stock as possible. It would be much more valuable its original condition. That is, anything you do to change it from stock will only devalue the bike.

i woud get it so I could ride it.
Then spend a few grand on it each year.
Unless you got the money, then just go for it.
I don't and it has been a work iin progress for several years.
Good luck on it, sounds like a special bike for you.

I started with this 13 years ago.. correct paint and electric start was this past year.

The guy you should be talking with is 'druid' on this forum. He invested a lot of time and money on restoring a 76 FLH that came out rock solid.

Yea, his was a rusted POS when he got it and stuck way more into than its worth but it sure tuned out nice. I stuck a bunch into my 78 FLH, re-did it stock and probably will never get that much back on it but it didn't matter to me.
If you keep the big front end for it, I wouldn't rake the frame.

Return it to stock, why spend 20K on a bike that will only be worth 5 to 6K.

I don't see "Driuds" name in the members, is he on this site? I only knew his scooter from the other site that everybody else is on.
