1981 Harley Davidson brochure regarding Sturgis bike
Hello,
I just purchased a 1981 Sturgis that needs to be restored. Do any of you have a brochure for 1981 or know for sure the specifics of this bike? Did this bike come with a chrome dual staggered exhaust with a cross-over? And was the heat shield on the cross-over black? I was told this is the exhaust it came with?? My bike has a non-black eye brow over the headlight is that correct? If someone could help me out i'd appreciate it as I would like to restore this bike correctly the first time.
Regarding your questions, 1) The exhaust pipes were chrome staggered shorty duals. There is no cross-over. Both pipes are on the right side. 2) No cross-over pipe, therefore no cross-over heat shield. My brochure has no information (text or photo) regarding other heat shields. 3) Yes, the mufflers are tapered. 4) Yes, there does appear to be a shroud of some sort over the headlight. It is black.
Good luck.
Thank you StreetGlider57 for the information and the jpeg's. It is exactly what I was looking for. I unfortunately can not view the jpegs (I have an email off to the webmaster in hopes of getting that resolved).
