just to give a quick update. Both bikes didn't really do it for me. I feel if I am spending 6k the bike should be pretty close to what I am looking for. O well the search continues! I will get getting one. I'm gonna post up each bike I look at. Thanks for the help!!!

I agree, you will feel it as soon as you put your hands on bars and imagine rolling out with no particular place to go or be. Just feeling free and not feeling as though you need to change the whole bike to fit your style.. Look at images on web and you will see many styles that are sure to please.. I would take up any offers others have posted to assist you once you locate what it is your seeking. You could run ad as wanted-good running FLH Harley Davidson Shovelhead with clean title and matching numbers that needs nothing other than to be ridden. Willing to pay up to $6K for super clean ride. Do it once and do it right. Then you can start looking for a project to complete after you have daily rider.. Good luck lhgdale..forever 2 wheels

A bit of advice about shovels man you'll grow old waiting for just the right bike to fall into your lap , they are not like twinkies where harley is throwing a new or slightly model at the public faster than your wife changes tampons but kinda locks you into what you change around buying their bling .

Stock shovels only came in 2 different models and usually only color changes on those models so there became a HUGE aftermarket parts demand for them and that means most have been done over to suit that guys personal tastes . You'll be doing the exact same thing , very few bikes out that won't get the treatment . Find a decent running mechanically sound bike in the general style you want cheap as you can , leaves the extra cash to make it yours your style . Everybody does whether they planned to or not , been down this road with many a friend or customer .

that is a fact, twiZted Biker. heres my configuration in 1985. on the road to Sturgis. 3500 mi round trip. cant believe i ran that solo for years and years. more comfortable with the mustang now. if i put a hydra-glide front end on it, id have a bagger.....second pic is about a year later. sorry for the bad image, its been rolled up in my tool box for ever, and i just scaned it. oops, found one more pic. the day i bought it. may 1983. and my original math was wrong...owned it for 28 yrs...

That's funny had my old girl since 82 , found her at a swap meet motor & frame on a block and half dozen crates and boxes and we've been raising hell ever since This was Bitch the first year & my hardcore hardtail days , she's been thru a few major face lifts and has grown a bit each time . Shes putting out 2 HP less than the 103" the moco is pushing now .

thought I would share a recent experience I had buying my first shovel. the add read 100 miles on re built motor and tranny, every belt, hose, nut&bolt, bearing new. over 20k invested, asking 12. no I did not pay 12,talked him down(still payed to much) needed tires, when they re built the motor they missed a small seal in the primary so it leaked, the gas tank leaked,it had the origional ignition(now I am going to put a DYNATECH dual fire on)with a short in the system, replaced the battery terminal wires, and a couple of other wires. the battery box bushings/nut have broken twice, the 1 mirror it had vibrated off on the ride home, the oil cooler line was cracked, the coil was cracked ,the paint from the rim of the tank peeled off an clogged my fuel lines am I leaving anything out ? oh yeah, he had the wrong fuel cap on so that vibrated off somewhere on QUEENS BLVD. and lets not forget the 45amp fuse in place of a 30 (which I was told would fry my system before blowing the fuse) the good news is it starts with 1 kick !! I LOVE THIS BIKE !!! are the calipers in the front supposed to shake from side to side ?
