Does anyone out there know what the hole in the right side of the round swingarms is for????
It looks like it's meant to be there, but I've never seen it being used for anything.
it does look like a shock mount, but it's only on the right side, and the normal shock mounts are on both sides on top of the swingarm.
The same question was asked over here in a German shovelhead forum, and the general consensus was that it was used as a sidecar mount.
Sounds like a possibility, but it doesn't seem to make any sense to mount a ridgid sidecar frame onto a moving part of the frame......Since the swingarm moves up and down, you'd need a ball joint both on the swingarm and on the sidecar frame.
With 2 ball joints, it seems that you would lose stability in the fore and aft direction.
