Default '74 FLH needs new battery. Which one?

Hey there, my '74 FLH is in need of a new battery. Before I go buy one, I'd like to know which one you guys suggest. I have the kind with the "dog ears" for the cables. I've read where some guys use Odyssey batteries (with some custom fitting/rubber spacers). I'd like one with the best cranking. I'm okay with modifying with spacers. Thanks in advance...

Jireh Cycles sells a Thundervolt AGM sealed unit old style for $75 that works wonders I recommend #1-141 .

Also I've gotten 5 yrs of out the good old Sears DieHard's but you need to stay on top of the cell levels constantly and get one of the acid catch tubes for the overflow tube . Do that anyway if you go the old style acid battery please .

I've tried the Odyssey battery in older bikes and the old 4 pin charging systems doesn't throw enough amperage to charge them correctly unless your doing hi highway miles constantly , they can be more of a pain than a help for the regular rider .

get a fxe battery and tray.. it would be about half the cost, works just as good, looks the same but smaller. takes up a lot less space. the bike feels a lot more balanced going down the road. leaves more leg room....
i could never get a sealed battery to charge rite on a shovel.. went through 5 agm batts.in a year, i bought a regular cheap $40 walmart lead acid battery and it lasted for 7 years. only replaced because i let the bike sit for 2 years with out charging it..

+1 on this. I use this on my 65 and my 84. Definitely more cold cranking amps than the lead-acid type and no acid spills because it is sealed.

I'm going to order the AGM today. I just picked up my YUASA battery from the shop. They charged it over night, and when I put her back in, the battery wouldn't crank my bike and the volts dropped way down.

I use Interstate acid battery and am also trying the Deka maintenance free but haven't got to use it yet.
