[QUOTE=RIPSAW;9291723]
magnets glued on the alternator rotor. However it says right on alternator rotor not to strike. I assume they are talking about rotor itself.

I've always felt a bit uneasy about the magnets GLUED to the rotor, but the MoCo seems alright with it.

Last time when I put it back together had loaned out my large torque wrench.

Loaning tools...............hmmmmm, depends on who it is, and which tool. After having some tools lifted a few years back, (some vintage Snap-On and Proto), I've become a little less willing to offer, although I hate to see a buddy buy an expensive tool for a one time use.

use a longer breaker bar like a 6 ft piece of pipe. Have someone put their foot up against the socket so it dont fall off.

The socket or the end of the crank?

sit on the floor and push on the socket with the bottom of your foot so it doesnt slip off while someone pushes down on the breaker bar with a 6 foot pipe attached

I have put that bike aside for the day...like twisted said, frustration is not a good way to work! Had a few other things to do today to my daily rider, it was a nice break. I will try once more again tomorrow (needed to grab a long piece of pipe for additional leverage first). if that does not pan out then in the truck and off to a garage.

Ok..................We took a vote. Load the damn thing up and find a 3/4 impact with a lot of air pressure, and get it over with. My hernia came back reading this post.
