Default Used triple Tree issue

Hi all, I'll try to keep this brief and to the point. I have this 77 FXE that I just got a used set of triple trees for so I ripped out the old stock originals to find that the stem is a larger size ? tell me if I am wrong but aren’t all stems the same size and all I should need to do is by the same bearings and race if not what would I need to do to fix this issue and use the newer triples.

Default triple tree stems

You might have gotton a set of trees off an old sportster they ran from 7/8 in to 15/16 in(1978-81) and finally to a 1 in after 1981

If it's smaller you got a sporty tree , I heard there was a cone bearing conversion for those but I have no idea if they are the same or not , I don't do anything sportster might check in the that forum ?
