I will try a few things but The more I think about this I may buy a new one. I haven't really put much money in this bike yet except for paint and a $40 cable can leave me stranded somewhere.

Remember you should lube that new cable before you put it on....
I'll try that graphite next time. It does get pretty grungy between lubes but it still works as I've never had one break!
