Love that stuff , had a fit when the local auto places quit carrying it when 3M/Permatex dropped the line . Like BigInch I buy from Amazon . Only thing is it's a slightly different formula than the older version bit more runny but works just as well .
Hylomar AF sealed the exhaust manifold on this engine despite high temperatures.
read the link i gave
Been using a couple different grades Hylomar for many years man . My day job in the industrial trades so I'm all up on the high end chemicals & stuff the average auto user will never see .
Permatex Ultra gray is the **** for shovel & pan exhausts man and I mean no joke here . Wire wheel the port & pipe flange and so it's somewhat clean , run a smear around the inside of the port about 1/2" up and some on the pipe flange with a new metal gasket and no **** after it sets up overnight you can lose the bolt in the head and the pipe won't come off . It ripped the metal gasket in half when I pulled mine off last time . Blends well to doesn't have the old red goo everywhere .
Hylomar is my thing for the oring intakes for sealing and some assorted gaskets that I can't find in the metal silicone yet .
This is the only setting sealant I use in my shop as a RTV replacement. Ive had to pull oil pans ive used this stuff on and you have to use a chisel to separate them. Dont even use a gasket.
i used the hylomar advanced on automotive headers before S/S headers -- copper gasket that has the raised seal ring adound the port -- sealed to aluminum heads --
Just thought I would share with you that Hylomar was invented at Rolls-Royce and was originally known as SQ13, after the chemist Squires who invented it.
