dino i the norm, but synth would be OK if for motorcycles.

Ya gotta love the shovels. Got mine out yesterday from it's heated winter storage & did the once over. Everything is tight & the chain is adjusted. Hope to get a couple of hours in on it today.
I can tell ya that you DO NOT want to useSYNTHETIC OILin a shovel. It's to thin and leaks out like water

Here is a pic of my ex's 77 Shovel...mostly original or at least I think so, tho the bags are not....it runs pretty good , or it did last I knew..I have driven it and it is sweet!!!! Whish it was mine as I would have restored it to it's original condition...don't know what happened to it or to him....

nice scoots on the pics. I use a straight 50 wt oil on my shovel which the HD dealership recommended.

I have a 73 and it is pretty much original.would recommend straight 60 wt.oil

Gotta agree with Capt Itch here. I use straight 60 on bothe my pans and my shovel. Stay away from syntheitic...great for modern bikes, not so for old iron (seeping past gaskets) IMO
