Hi folks,
running a 1972 FX shovel. The starter wasn't engaging so I rapped on the solenoid with a spark plug socket to get it going. Replaced the starter solenoid two weeks later with no improvement. Now I have to rap on the new solenoid. Is the starter gear or the drive gear on the clutch messed up? Starter and electrical are fine. I assume the primary cover has to be pulled to take a look inside. Any Infromation would be appreciated.
Found the Problem. With the ignition on crossed the lead on the starter solenoid from the battery with the lead from the starter relay and starter engaged. Replaced the starter relay.
