lifting my foot off the peg is not a problem,,she dont want to go into 2nd,,only if I go real slow jerkin up then down then back up,and wants to grind going in,Ièm wondering if I clean that burr up,and clean up the pin rollers if it will work
I cant tell if forks are bent, they look straight from top
I just had a thought about a problem I had on a 80/80. Do you still have that "V" linkage in-line between your toe shifter and the tranny? If you do, take it out of the equation. Hook it up directly from the arm of your toe shifter to the tab on the shaft going into the rotary top. See what happens.
Shoot a picture of the left side of your tranny with all the linkage installed if you can. Maybe I'm not describing it right. I'm not at home to go and look.
so,I just diassembled the trans top,,burrs on the cam plate, burrs on top hats, broken pawl spring,so I ground off burrs, order new springs and tophats, and hopefully will fix,,I'll post a pic of linkage later
So I'm thinking I need new cam plate,as its sloppy at one corner, and I wonder what else is wrong that would have caused wear in cam plate like that,,visually looking at gearts and forks ,looks fine, but I really don't know what I'm looking for,,picking up my new to me RK today as well,,now Ill have 2 hd's to spend money on
Is this the tranny you have? Do you still have all of that linkage? I took the intermediate linkage off and hooked it direct. It took all of the slop and bad shifts out.
Thats the one,but different linkage, thats for an fx with midcontrols, its the other type for forward controls, one plate coming out of lid that hooks up to an arm that points down
Every rotary top 4 speed I have had, you had to lift your foot off the peg to shift it...so you may not even have a problem... you can't pussyfoot around with them, you have to shift them hard...you will never get it to shift like a more modern transmission.
The later maytag's your right , all my older ratchet top's shift like a dream . Only time they get goofy is when one of the centering springs break in the drum and I have busted a few of those .

Seen those spread around the neutral 2nd jog , that rotary plate didn't work for **** with the old sporty's so they gave shovels some the grief too , never did get a handle on the logic when they went maytag's .
