Default Another fuel question.

What fuel would you use if you could choose between 92 octane with ethanol or 87 octane 100% gasoline? I'm thinking the 100% dinojuice even tho it's a lower octane will still be better for the old shovel.....

Personally and I could be 100% wrong but I use the highest octane gas. I live in a small town and haven't seen any ethanol here yet.

The lower octane could cause knocking or dieseling (continuing to fire after ignition switched off). I use the 92 octane and use a lead substitute. Ethonal gas goes bad real quick so drain it if you store the bike.

What about running the 87 100% gas and add octane/lead additive? I think I'll try a couple tanks that way and see how it goes.

Ethanol is BAD,BAD,BAD. I would rather use scotch ****(if it would fire my bikes) than the **** the govt. forces us to burn(?). I have had to replace fuel line every 6 months on my hot rod because of the ethanol in fuel. We Americans are being sold down the river, People. Stupid Rope has it right!!!! We need to stand for all or..... WE WILL ALL fall!

OK Then!(???)

13 year old S/E Road Glide, 125,000 miles, original fuel lines, daily commuter...

All on 10% ethanol. (Just lucky I guess....?)

Or, maybe you should change fuel line suppliers.

For a while now in Italy we have had only unleaded and diesel (used to have leaded too, which was what we used on old biked).
All unleaded is about 96 octanes. 98-100 octanes is recomended on older rides
