Oley PA had a AMCA national antique motorcycle event this weekend and this year for the first time the AMCA has a spotlight on AMF bikes. sooo we chassis up restored (it took almost a year, from time of purchase to now / a 1971 FLH that has 58,000 miles - had it judged in its correct 1970 / 1977 FL / FLH restored class and it scored a 97.5 points ( we did not have the correct seat so they deducted 2 points no one gets 100 points )
If anyone had gone to the event it is in red a one year color for 71 and it had NC plates / with the blact solo seat they deducted points for, its a customers bike and he had to have that seat on it sooo --

These were an interesting addition to the AMF category.
A 1971 FX Night Train and a 1972 FX Midnight Express. One that wasn't there would've been a 1972 FX with a boat tail rear fender, which is rarer then a 1971 FX.

i remember those -- took that stuff off and put a crazy frank rear fender on so i could sit in comfort on 2000+ mile trips -- i still have that -- 1979 FXE -- but i fab'ed my own exhaust --

Couldn't have been a boat tail rear fender on a stock 79FXE.
Back then a Corbin-Gentry king&queen with a sissybar would give the same comfort as a crazy frank seat.

The 71 night train was parked right behind us in the field it only has 3000 miles i believe - did you see the 1921 BSA V Twin that was ours, it was next to a 1942 WLA all three belong to the shop -- that Indian recieved 99 3/4 points and the chief judge said if the owner had not told him about a small defect he would have 100 percent for the first time that bike in the AMCA
she dont know bikes-- lol thats a XS 1000 with robinson thunderheads -- lol
the seats are custom made by franks people - corbin gentry- lol not even close in confort.. yeah bike show people -- oooo flash, flash but dont ride them.. i ride mine not stare at it.. you couldnt give me a boat tail -- i rode them -- oh its custom for just what your doing --- looking at it..

i have been riding bikes since 1964..
I know the franks is a custom made seat. They can be had for $250. but if you don't know where to get one, you can try ebay and be prepared to pay as much as $750 or more. As for me, I don't care for them, they're just an ohhh ahhh wow. Back in the day a Corbin Gentry king & queen w/ a sissy bar was a good seat.
As for the bikes on display at the Oley meet, their the ones that represent old iron from days gone by. There's some like me that appreciate seeing old iron in their original condition knowing they are the survivors that dodged the torch from the chopper era of the 70's. Many of the them are actually riden.

Most likely I checked out your other bikes.
Was your 1921 BSA parked behind the 72FX along the building ?
I didn't notice the actual mileage on the 71FX, but I did check out the face on the speedo to make sure it was a 71 speedo and it wasn't a mid to later black face or repo.
