Default shovel accelration issues

I have 76 shovel. Accelerating ok when slowly turning throttle. When hard turning, sound goes popopopopop, and speed decreases. I have Bendix Zenith with adjustable main jet, Accel tune up ignition. Gas tank is clean and I use filter. Floater is set according instructions not to leak gas. One annoying issue is also that there seems not be any effect with choke. Rpm's do not increase at all, engine dies if I hold full choke just after starting engine. If I take air cleaner off, it shoots to carburetor....

What says professionals?

a slight finish / english difference in the explanation -- my guess is you have the carb too rich / and or the accelerator pump is puting way to much fuel in the motor

FIRST - warm the bike up / remove the little arm on the accelerator pump leave the pump in place ( rubber band will hold it in ) / than drive it the same way you have been when the problem happens -- and see if it goes away or its different - if it works like it should your jet adjustment needs to be turned in 1/2 turn to start with - jz

Thx

I have now done adjustments and finished on following setup

idle jet 7/8 open
main jet 2 1/2 open

Quite far from factory recommendations to start with (idle 1 1/2 and from forums I have heard that 4 turns is good to start with main jet). This Bendix is 40mm version, I think its taken from EVO. Could that lead to situation that I have to adjust more than instructed.

It now accelerates without couching, no black smoke when throttling from idle

How do I know that I am not on too lean side to do any harm on engine?? It doesnt spit on carb, nor exploding on exhaust. Performance is far away from my -95 Dyna, but thats not my priority 1 with this.

Now when engine has cooled down, it spits to carb, choke deads the engine, it doesnt increase rpm. Damn

Esa
