Default after a little work

Finally got the '79 shovel roadworthy again, some clean up, a rebuild on the S&S Super B as well as the brake master cylinders, a few various repairs and parts. Mostly stock, not a show stopper by any means, but glad to be in the breeze.

26 yrs? Bro you need to dust 'er off and bring it on over, Maryland's not too far.
The ol'lady already thinks I moved out to the shed and when I walk into the house the dogs just aren't sure if they should launch or not.
Anyway here's a before and after pic. Wrapped the 1.75" straight pipes, new rubber oil lines, clutch cable, solenoid switch, battery, starter switch. Pulled the oil bag and cleaned the sludge out, etc etc.

Electric only. '79 was a transition year from 74 to 80ci and I've read that the kicker was dropped as an option after '78 on the FXEF (not sure about that). I was debating a bolt on kit but clearance issue with the rear pipe nixed that for now. Maybe in the future ??
It would be nice to have another gear in the tranny for highway cruising. Looked at getting a 5 speed in a 4 speed box but they're not given them away either.

5 speed's final gear is the same as 4 speed... you only get one more gear inbetween, not an overdrive.
To get an overdrive you need a 6 into 4.
If you look, somewhere here people talk about different ratios playing with sprockets too to lower cruising rpm
