Default 1967 electraglide front wheel

I am trying to get my front wheel off my 67 electraglide. My problem is the hub cap! How is it attached? I can't seem to remove it. Any hints?

the axle slides through it - but no one leaves a little grease on the outside for it not to seize up - if your not carefull you can bend the threads on the axle

Default Hub cap

So what you are saying is that it may be seized on? Just so I am clear, there are no clips holding this cap on?

Ok, this is how it went. I tried to tap it out &it wouldn't budge, so I took some tin snips to it & cut it out. After I got it out there was a spacer that would not let me remove the axle. I tried to move it with a monkey wrench but it wouldn't budge. Do I just hack jaw the axel off?

If you removed the axle cap you should be able to wiggle the axle out with the spacer still on. With the front wheel elevated you should be able to compress one slider enough to get it to clear. Did you try penetrating oil and heat first?

This thread caught my attention as that year is the one I've had for 28 or so years now, (dammit, I'm getting old!). I never had an issue with mine, sorry I can't help ya. I imagine after it is out, it should be o.k the next and next time? If it's that hard it makes me wonder if it's ever been out. Hey. If you don't already, that "Parts Manual" is your best friend: Full of exploded views to show you just WHAT you are dealing with, or to put it back correct. I always seem to have mine out, right along side the service manual. Often I use it more...... hope it works for you. let us know...
