Default Tranny dope

Im running 90 wt. oil right now in the 74 four speed and of course I have as yet NOT pulled the tranny to try and fix the ever common leak they seem to have. The new seal works but its coming out elsewhere. That's a winter project I want to finish the season first without down time. The tranny shifts fine, with 90 in it, but how much thicker could or should I go to get me through the rest of the riding season? I just don't like the puddle under it the next morning. I did however have too much in it as well because when the bike is level and its hot it came out of the filler when I checked it. How far from the top of the filler hole should I maintain it?

If you have the old style transmission cover without the allen plug in the side, fill it to the bottom of the filler threads with the bike upright. With the plug, remove the plug and fill until it seeps out with the bike upright. Replace the plug.
