Thanks Joe-Seats a Mustang vintage solo wide. That grab rail is from JP cycles for the old 30's tractor seat or old 50's-60's buddy seat. Had to do some "massaging" of the rail but got it to bolt to the frame under the seat with stock frame bolts. The seat comes off and the grab rail stays bolted in tight-you could pick the bike up from that rail-I think It's on solid.

Most of my ideas came from this bunch https://www.hdforums.com/forum/group...est-group.html AFMM3's bike was quite an inspiration.
I'm seriously thinking about buying the 2 into 1 fishtail or sharktail exhaust from shade tree fabrications to finish it off.

Shown on a bones but they make them for dynas according to their website-after I put another 50 or 60thousand miles on it I like to hot rod the motor at some point and do black jugs and silver heads.

I like that! My wife on the other hand, she would hate it. She sees fish tails as something stolen from a Dr. Suess book.

There is a thread in the softail section discussing how hard it is to get shade tree to make any products. I have no personal experience but recall reading this thread.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...b-exhaust.html

I personally love these mufflers, but they are very restrictive from guys who have them, you need to drill out the baffles.

http://www.jpcycles.com/product/4500075

Paugho 2 into 1 and this muffler is a great looking system. Here is a friend's bike. I'm not sure how they'd mount on a Dyna with the rubber mounted engine.

Just some more ideas for you. Your bike looks great!

Hmm...What's wrong with Dr. Suess? Is she a "Suess Hater" ?

Hmm...

Paughco makes those head pipes for $280 (rather than $650). Muffler is $80 from V-Twin. SURFOR Chop used that head pipe.

AFFM3-are you saying I can get a head pipe from paughco with the 02 sensors bungs?
Of course I'm going to go look now-But last time I checked I couldn't find a head pipe for my bike that would accept the fish tail. They were for 05 and older. I thought SURFOR had the older generation dyna. I considered doing something like you did with the 09 touring header. But I'd like 2 into 1 exhaust. I just found shadetree fabrications and figured they build the 2 into 1 for 06 and up dyna. More money but less hassle. I don't have the fabrication skills or tools to build my own. I know a guy who runs a muffler shop that doesn't work on motorcycle exhaust but he knows a guy who does work on motorcycle exhaust--------jeeez. Just gimme the shadetree unit and be done already Or is it possible shade tree requires a tune to eliminate the O2 sensors?
I'm in no hurry but when I saw the shadetree pipe it got me thinking.

Simple matter to weld in O2 bungs... any exhaust shop can do that or they're not an exhaust shop.

She loves Dr. Suess, just thinks there's no place on a bike for his designs! One day in the future she will belly ache about my bike having them.

He does but it shouldn't be an issue, the biggest hurdle is the transmission mount the supports the exhaust, that's where they're different. The pipes on mine in this picture are for 05 and older, I reworked the trans mount bracket and they bolted right up.

I was considering the same pipe Todd used but he had to mod it because the angle the touring model engines sit at. If I recall, those engines tilt forward so the pipe points down when mounted on a Dyna. When the time comes for me, I plan on ordering the pipe for the Softail, it should be closer to the Dyna with less chance of having to modify it. The only part that makes me nervous is the rear pipe and how it will clear the dipstick.

Paughco part# 733C8 says it is for 2000-2006 Softail, which means it will physically fit to a Dyna and be level. Just need to have O2 bungs welded on. Brackets and oil filler access are, of course, unknown without experimentation. My guess is the oil filler may be a show stopper but also with the ShadetreeFabrication setup. They seem to designed for a Softail and knowing the motors are tilted the same, just threw out there that it will fit a Dyna.

These are the reasons I modified a 2009 touring exhaust to my bike rather than a more traditional system.
