Default Help locating where this part goes

I had my 2009 Sportster XL1200 right hand controls apart yesterday as i was rerouting my throttle cables and a part fell out that i cant for the life of me figure out where it goes, any help would be appreciated as now the bike wont start!

Its the copper clip on the left

Oops, didn't fully read. Not sure about the copper looking part.

This might help, but check for a pinched wire when you put it all back together.

Here, #7 and #10 look like your two parts:

Yea, for sure. #7 is the cruise control friction shoe, the black part in OP pic, not sure where the clip goes though.

Agree on the pinched wire. Kill switch perhaps?

That copper looking part is the spring that holds your front brake light switch in place.
The black piece is the friction collar for the cruise/throttle lock.

Quite right - I wrote about that very part in my thread on fitting the factory extended switches. Mine went for a dance around the floor, but eventually I found it - phew!
