Default Time to change the belt?

Been running like this for the past 10K miles. What do you guys think, good for another 5K or 10k miles?

I need to pull the inner primary to repair a seal leak, so, maybe it is time. I'm just not looking forward to pulling the swingarm. Looks like a lot of work!

Anyone seen any good videos on belt replacement? I did a search the other day, could not find much, except for removing the primary.

I'm guessing you don't own a HD Service Manual.

You have three options:

1. I have had an almost identical wound in a belt in the past. The first thing I did was to dig out the small stone that was stuck in the belt. I then rode it for around 4k miles, keeping a regular check on the wound, after which time that began to increase in size, so I changed the belt. I also had a long tour coming up and the last thing I wanted was a broken belt. Which brings us to the second option,

2. If you have a long trip in mind, change it in good time. On the other hand, if you are only riding locally, as I was during those 4k miles, then ride on and keep an eye on it. The time will come when it will definitely need replacing, the challenge is to catch it before it breaks!

3. If you want total peace of mind, simply change it soon.

I do have one, used it many times. Just hate looking stuff up...

It's certainly the safest option, but if you only ride locally isn't gut-bustingly urgent unless you like the traffic-light GP!
