have a RK and ended up putting a aftermarket removable batwing and streetglide length shocks on it but honestly I bet the stock windshield hasn't been put on twice by me since I added the batwing . I since have bought a Ultra and my son parked his Sporty and took the RK put the windshield on once put the batwing back on and that was nearly a year ago.

I dont know if I really want the fairing all the time though!! Im only 36, so Dont want a GeezerGlide yet. But kinda fell in love with the streetglide. And yes at $18-$20k before any accessories, I need to be sure!! Thanks again guys.
I will keep you all posted on what we decide. Oh also the wife dont't like the looks of the fairing as well either.

On a side note: I found the thread yesterday about the bufferring/buffetting whatever wind turbulance with a the Streetglide. That made me really start second guessing!!

Shane
That's called a "tank slapper" as the wind at a certain angle/velocity can grab that batwing fairing and occilate it back and forth. Heard about one guy in the Calif. desert that it proved fatal for; bad juju.

I prefer a clear view in front of me with a sawed off windshield if any and there are plenty of warm gloves and liners to keep your hands warm IMO.

I just put a deposit down on a 2007 FLHP Road King with a 103 incher in it. Wow! My test ride still makes me grin thinking about it. Can't wait to finalize the deal.

I picked up my 2013 this past Tuesday morning. Fell in love with her during the test ride last week. Never looked back. Traded in my '96 Heritage Softail Nostalgia and what a difference there. I love the clear view in front of me. Never could get used to the faring. To each his own. Some love them, some hate them. I don't hate them, just can't warm up to the blocked view. It's all good though.

Road King with King Tour Pak... Strip it down in less than 5 Minutes for around town. Put everything back on and you and the wife are set for high mileage touring. That's why I went with a RK. I love the vintage look but I have to admit a fairing and some tunes are nice as well. A detachable fairing might be a good idea?

What the hell as long as you like it roll with it!

The Street Glide for me for no other reason than the audio system.

I held out from getting a touring bike until I was in my 40s and the ONLY reason I got one then was for the stereo.
