I have 13" LA Chopper Twin peaks and the stock lines & cables worked fine without having to replace anything.

If you want to save a few $$, try pulling the pin on the stock bars and rolling them forward, I did, it made a world of difference.

When you say you wouldn't spend the time to change the bushings - is it much different then on other models? I can change them in about 5 min on my Dyna once the bars are off.
Under the bars there is a pin that comes through the lower clamp to hold the bars in a certain spot, see photo left side of clamp, it's pushed in. No one really knows why its there, but I assume its to locate the bars during production. There's also a nub behind the clamps for the master cylinders.

As for the bushings, there's a lot to get off to get to them. I have 11" bars on mine and they dont move or wiggle. So unless you want to change the bushings, there really isnt a need.

Got it. Thanks. I looked into it a bit myself. I see that pin as to keep the bars from rolling forward under hard braking (or back if you have the torque!)

I got a set of Factory 47 12" bars today. Found them in stock at a local shop (no 5 week wait, score!). Was originally going to go black, but the chrome is pretty nice, so that's where I'm going.

I also picked up the service manual, so I'll have a look at getting the poly bushings on. Put them in every HD I've had, so I'll probably do it again.

Installed Custom Dynamics Dynamic Ringz in the front, and their standard red LED's in the rears, with some HD chrome bezels. Love their LED's.

Demo'd the HD 15" Wind Splitter today. Didn't do much for me. Too short. I look about 4-5" over it, so I probably need a pretty tall shield. Going to look at Clearview and LRS.

Think I'm going to go with a fuelmoto E series pipe. Their $995 deal for the pipe and a PV is too good to pass up.

Sorry for the extended monologue. Thinking out loud...

Cant beat the price on LRS and they are a quality product. For me the perfect height is being able to see over in normal upright riding position and tilting my head slightly downward seeing through it. I'm 6 foot on the stock RGS seat and with a 14 inch LRS Thresher i can see over it by an inch or so.

That's strange. I'm only a couple inches taller (6' 2") and the HD 15" shield was a good 4" too low. Granted, leg/torso length can play into that - I'm a 32" inseam, so maybe my torso is longer, but a 5" difference?

I'll make sure not to pull the paper off it when I try, as I expect I might not get it on the first try.

What tint did you get?

+1 to both LRS and Fuel Moto.

I have the 12" Thresher in Dark Tine on my bike. I am 6' with a 32" inseam and it puts the wind right over me. My wife likes it a lot better too as she gets a lot less buffeting with it and can hear the stereo just fine.

As for FM, those guys are awesome. I have their Hi-Roller slip ons with the 2/1/2 ceramic header and the sound is nice and low but not super loud. And their air cleaner along with a PV is a great combo.

And the CD lights are pretty awesome. I went ahead and got the Tri-Bar fender tip light as well for extra brake lights.

Installed the 12" Malo bars. Damn nice. In case it helps anyone, the '16 TBW connector is mini now, JAE I think. Easily pulled through. No depinning at all. Took a look at what is involved to change the bushings and decided I was too lazy. When I eventually go with the Ohlins cartridges and the fairing is off, I'll do them then.

Looks pretty good.

Question though. Do bagger grips need glue? My dyna grips just slip on and friction keeps them there. The left grip was glued and when I finally got it off, it was pretty loose on the new bars. Maybe I stretched it while jamming a flathead in it to break the glue?

And here's the new TBW connector

I put the harley fat apes on mine. - I was able to use the stock lines with som modifications on the brake side. I had to un bolt the union from the frame and raise it. Clutch side just needed some re routing. But you have to extend the wiring, I used the HD extension kit.

Yo might want to put the seat on first before you choose a size of bars. What feels right with the stock set will feel low on the tall boy.

Congrats on the new bike!
