Default Oil breather

On the new 2017 Triglide, I read that Harley is routing the breather hose to the transmission instead of returning it to the intake .

Has anyone heard of this , and if so how is it supposed to be better ?

You are either going to get carbon buildup on top of the pistons or dump all that oily crap into the transmission.

Think I will stick with DK Customs breather kit with a catch can.

Not on my 17 TG. It's clearly routed into the intake from the breather holes.

Didn't see much evidence of oil yet. Just a slight film on the inside of the filter (metal part). However I will do the bypass very soon anyway. Don't need that hot air going into the intake. Cold air is better.

Nope, the breathers are routed back into the air cleaner, just like on previous models.

The '17 M8's are even using the exact same breather bolts as previous years. All our External Breather Systems work on the '17 M8's.

On the one M8 that we have tested, the misting was light also...but of course the air besides being hot, is also Oxygen Depleted...just taking up space but not contributing to the burn (power).

Agree. I'm sure that the hose along with the hot air mixing with the cold air simultaneously creates havoc within the venturi flow. Probably makes the air bounce around instead of a good straight flow as needed. I always say "What begins wrong always ends wrong". That's one of the main reasons why I pay very close attention to intakes in performance/racing applications.

Boyesen their roots are in dirt racing I believe. Check out their web page I believe mine is called the X Force. My model has a cross brace type casting in the throat of the air intake to supposedly straighten out the air flow. Seems to work good for me I have seen Boyesen name around racing machines for years. good luck interesting reading anyway. ride safely fearless
