Default Wire won't fit through hollow bolt to install detach kit on FXDB

Not sure I'm doing this right maybe someone can help me ?
I removed the wires from the harness (rear blinkers) and got the guts out of the bullet.
I then put the wires through the threaded hole ( which was very tight) and pushed the guts back in the bullet but now there's no way to get the wires through the bolt going through the strut & fender.
Maybe if I remove all the insulation and feed each wire individually but that doesn't seam like the thing to do.
Help from others would be great.

You definitely DON'T want to remove the insulation.

Got a picture of the wires in question? My wires fit thru the mounting post easily, but that was a '99.

Depending on your skillset and tools, you have a few options from reaming out the mounting post to splicing in smaller gauge wires.

By removing the insulation I meant the black stuff holding the three wires together not the colored on the individual wires.
Is that OK, then I might be able to get the through ?

Yes, that would be fine.

To clear things up, you are removing heat shrink tubing, not insulation.

This is an example of poor design by Harley. According to their instructions you are supposed to cut and splice the wires. With no end on the wires all three will fit through the bolt although its still pretty tight. At that point you can splice the wires back together.

When I did mine I didn't like that splice option. The plate relo kit I bought from harley came with its own set of wires. Instead of cutting and splicing like it suggested I picked the black plastic connectors on the other end at I can't remember if I had to cut the ends off or if they were already off but I remember crimping on new ends after the wires were through the bolt and then I had a factory like connection with no splices in it. Was a bit of a pain.

Simple explanation. You need to cut the ends off the wires, run them through and attach new ends if you don't want random splices in it.

What "c" is saying (I think )...illustrated below

Green Diameter (smallest diameter) - cutting all your wires
Magenta (largest) - all connectors together
Red (Med) - smallest diameter without cutting wires (may or may not work)

If it doesn't work here, apply knowledge learned in the future
