Valve spring compressor tool - DIY?

I made one for a big c clamp using a big washer like the one on max's tool with 2, 1/4" x 2" steel pins welded on each side to a slightly smaller washer at the top and glued it to the stationary part of the clamp so it wouldn't move around. I wish I had a drill press like that though.

I wouldn't use it.. I don't think there is enough room around the valve spring..
