Default seat question

I have an 07 roadking custom with a custom fitted corbin dual touring seat. It does not have the provisions for a riders backrest. Now as I get older I would like to have it modified to accept a backrest. Corbin says they can not do it. Any suggestions? I don't care if it is a corbin pod type rest or a factory Harley type I just need something.

It's time for a new seat with a receptical for a backrest. If your old seat is in decent shape you can sell here on the classified section to help pay for the new one.

It will probably cost you more to have it modified than you can buy a new seat for and sell your old one.

As subjective as this topic is, I can only share my experience. I've tried Corbin and Mustang and after all the $ I'm back to the OEM seat and the back rest crevice is right there where I need it.

I doubt you could do it. It's not bad to get the slit through the seat, but the pan underneath likely doesn't have room to sit on the mounting bracket for the backrest.

As suggested above a new seat may be the best solution overall. I just bought a dual tour from Corbin and can speak as to their comfort. If Corbin says they cannot retrofit your present seat I'd believe them.

Been going through the "seat" issue myself. Tried real hard to stay away from spending a bunch of $ especially dropping a good chunk at the HD Dealership to start with. I've spent more $ to save money. I would have to agree w/ several of the previous post about doing your research, compare prices, find out about their return policy, then pulling the trigger and get you a good seat. still working on it myself and going through the same steps I just mentioned. Once I complete getting informed, I'm going to pull the trigger myself.

There is always this option.
Saw it at bike week this year.
I tried it out and it does work.
Looks interesting.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!. Not knowing what I'm talking about with this style of bike, I just assumed the contact points to the side of the seat was for this possibility of attaching a backrest. Talked to an HD guy at the dealership and he wasn't aware of anything to attach a backrest in this manner. There it is. I do appreciate this information since I like the new (old) seat I bought but hated loosing the access to the backrest attachment. Very nice. Thank you sir.
