I'm in the market for an external head breather system for my stock 2014 Electra Glide Police. My understanding is the stock head breather discharges hot air/oil mist into the throttle body inlet. It makes an oily mess inside my air cleaner housing and on my rear exhaust header pipe.
I like the external head breathers that discharge into a catch can. Which after-market vendor supplies the catch can that has an oil level sight gage?
I'm interested in knowing if you re-routed the head breathers then was there any increase in MPG?
I noticed no change in my MPG when I installed a breather kit / catch can from DK Custom. However, I'm VERY glad that I no longer have an oily mist blowing back in to my combustion chamber and potentially causing excess carbon to cake up.
I bought a catch can off Amazon and made my own breather kit. I originally sent the vent down to a small breather filter under the bike but it would get dirty fairly quick. I have drained my catch can twice in about 800 miles and the residue is 99% condensation. My catch can has a sight line along side of it and holds 750ml but i am not going to let it fill up,lol

You can see that even if you chose to just run the line under the bike, venting externally is definitely something you'll want to do.
I run WWW tires on the front and rear of my Road King Classic. Would venting it under the bike make my tires dirty (dirtier than they already get)? I hate cleaning those damn things as it is.
I vent mine under the bike and have only had a bit of condensation at the tip of the hose. I haven't noticed any oil blow by since I've done it. I use to get so much oil in my air cleaner that it would run all over the cam cover and over my rear exhaust pipe. Not exactly sure why it no longer blows out but I'm damn glad I did it.
