I love the new look of the air cleaner cover. I thought I would grow tired of it after a while, had my bike 1 mo and 1800 mi later still dig this look! Unfortunately, it does restrict the air intake. I upgraded the filter itself with K&N which is twice as big as the OE filter, but the cover does not allow enough air in. I found a couple guys with american ingenuity and a dremel and time! They modified the cover to allow more air across bike. They had more time and patience than i did. They cut a section outta the bottom and the back to create positive ventilation (whatever the **** that means).
My skills and confidence are lacking... I found a cover on ebay for 20 bucks. Drilled some holes in areas that cannot be seen and I will be dipped in ****! Bikes seems to be running better. bike going into shop for more mods (pipes) today, will be dyno'd as well.
I have a hard time believing that the stock engine wants to suck more air in that is allowed by the existing large screen. If you put your hand in front of it, does it really suck your hand closer when you rev it?

I agree. The opening in the stock cover is a significantly larger area than the throttle body bore and would in that case have a higher flow capability than the throttle body. I see no point in enlarging or supplementing the opening of the air box. The throttle body flow is the limiting factor, not the air box.
Also, the filter media can influence the available air to the engine, but that's another discussion.
I liked the looks of the stock cover so I went with a Arlen Ness Big Sucker.I had one on my 06 Street Glide worked well.I had a Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather on my 103 Street Glide,But I liked the look of the stock cover,So with the Big Sucker You get another Backing Plate New Filter an Eliminate the plastic backer an the screen an just use the Metal 107 Cover. They are Not that Much$,An looks good An Dynoes Well Had one put on With Rinehart Slimline Duals with a power vision an a Dyno Tune Runs Well an Looks Good.
