You might like to check their website, where they directly address all the rumours about what it is or isn't! Needless-to-say they don't admit to what it actually is, except that it is a water dispersant and it took them 40 attempts to get it right.

Old thread but just went through this. I used mineral
spirirts on a rag and after I dabbed the goo and let it sit for 2-3 minutes it rubbed right off. Just thought I would share for anyone new looking for a suggestion.

Same here, in fact many times. It does require a little patience, as none of the yucky sticky stuff comes off without putting up a fight, but I have never been defeated. Hadn't thought of using Hoppes!
