Hmmm... apache snow seemed to have been tooting a lot of his J&S horn (with videos and everything) that you suggested we've already heard enough of. Doubt - as the J&S "potentate" (suppose other descriptors such as - cultist, worshiper, devotee, disciple, groupie, etc. might fit ) that he claims to be - that apache snow would be praising the wares of another.
Also there is 2 different HF motorcycle jacks. Both look identical but, model # 61632 closes down to 4-3/4" and model # 60536 closes down to 5-1/2". I opted for 61632 having the lower clearance.
I have #61632 which I bought 2 years ago, and it is 4-3/4". However, when I checked their site now, they've changed the minimum height for that model number to 5-1/4". I don't know what they're doing there.

I think it's more a case of someone not proof reading on the HF website and their using the same description for both. I just bought the 61632 model this year.

i had tried both models. First one was the model 61632 it was slightly over 5 inches after assy and would not go under the bikes. Took it back to harbor freight and manager gave me a different model. After assy height was 5 1/4 and would not go under bike
I read the website and it started 4 3/4 min height. It actually was over 5.
I will be going with a different brand. Not sure which yet. I had a harbor freight jack for several years that I got in 2004. Sold it when I moved. That jack went under the bikes with no problem and was problem free for me. The inconsistency that I have experienced at the local hf store is no longer worth it for me to save a couple of dollars. I took home, assembled two jacks, and both of them would not fit under bikes. In addition the quality control issues onmodel 61632 were horrid. One of the arms was 10 to 15 degrees off center. The rod that is welded to connect the two lifting arms caused the lock mechanism to be so far off center it would not engage the locking detents.
In my opinion, If you get a good one that meets spec, the jack will be fine.
Just no longer worth it to roll the dice and see if another one will work

I suppose if I worked on bikes regularly or was trying to impress my neighbors I'd buy a real costy one, but why spend money to impress people who don't understand that they're supposed to be impressed?

look man, you've got it all wrong...
if you buy a $700 jack, you will impress the bike gods. they, the bike gods, will bestow upon you good favor.
From that good favor, bestowed by the bike gods, random people will be impressed.
That group of randoms will bestow upon much awe...
so you see it's the bike gods... not the expensive jack
Same thing when you spend thousands on do dads for your bike LOL
I believe my J&S was $450.
I'll poke the bear...
The do-dads (in theory) add to the style/performance of said bike. The bike cruises around town where more eyeballs are, and hopefully faster/safer/more nibble like because of the do dads.
The jack, sits unused and unseen most of the time. It goes up and down like any other jack.
I use this piece of crap, and it goes up and down just fine...
Spend as much or as little as you want. Ain't my money.

Sorry that jack don't work on total tear downs. Good try though. I do have one of them as well.
There are those who buy very expensive table lifts. Just because I don't need one should I knock the ones that do. No so I don't.
I've had motorcycles torn down three times in my garage in the past 12 months so I believe it is in my best interest to have the best tools and equipment that is available. but that's just me.
