I just take a pic of my registration and insurance card on my phone. I don't carry either card with me. If a LEO asks I show them the pic. It works fine in Iowa. I've had 1 cop say, he doesn't have to accept that. To which I responded, I'm sure you don't HAVE to, but why wouldn't you? He agreed and was on my way.

Pre cell phone days, you know way back when dinosaurs walked the land? I wasn't there so have no clue how it all went down and no nobody I know has ever carried duplicate anything till I started traveling internationally. Bike was never recovered, and he ate a portion in the insurance payoff. Things where a bit different 15 yrs ago.

Was there in 90 also, last I went got too commercial and way too many idiots for my tastes.

Still today I personally will not leave any paper on the bike, old habits die hard you know. The suggestions of snapping a cell pic and loading into a cloud somewhere for backup isn't a bad idea may do that myself, did my passport but never thought about the wheels. Honestly surprised the DMV hasn't clued to that idea yet, everything else is digital anymore.

I have mine in an envelope taped to the inside of my right panel....since the panel comes off without tools....hidden and safe.

Oh, you'd think so. No, you must have the original. Just ridiculous- I realize most states are like this, but never had to have those "registration" papers in MN.

I'd put it in my wallet, but my wallet is too full the way it is. I ordered a grifter box. If I don't like it, I will stick it in my helmet.

I put mine in my back pocket, I've only lost my pants once. Just my licence, registration and insurance cards with my bank card in an insurance folder is all I ever take when riding. I don't see the need to carry a fat wallet around especially when the only thing I need out of it is 2 small plastic cards (Licence & bank card)

Most vests and jackets have an inside pocket. Put your papers in there inside a freezer type ziplock bag. the baggie will help keep the papers dry in case your caught in the rain. Or, in your wallet, as has been said multiple times. Fold it up and put it behind your drivers license.

The only paper I keep on the bike is the annual state inspection paper and it's inside the locking glove box of the hard lowers.

Even back in the day, all leos's had access to NCIC and whatever state database stores all the DMV files. A reverse search using the name of the victim will result in what vehicles are registered to him. Cop was a moron for not taking a stolen report.
