Use the filter and wrench from the link below. It has already paid for itself.

The PC Racing spin oil filter. I'm watching a black one on eBay. How are they and do they clean easily?

I had the PC version, but the quality was not there. I got a black one and on the inside it looked like they missed half of it. In addition, the filter element looked cheap, had globs of glue in the flutes. That was my experience and my opinion. Alternately, the K&P filter is first class, if a product is FAA rated it is good enough for my bike. The quality of the K&P is first class. It is easy to clean, check out their videos on their site.

K & P makes excellent filters. My friend helped develop them and owns a shop that machines the housings and internals. Very unrestricted flow and still filters better than a paper filter. You can stick a garden hose against the opening and it'll flow right through easily. Paper filters are restrictive because the paper is wrapped around multiple times as there's no assurance that the holes in the paper are all the same micron size.

This is the wrench I use. Less than $5 at Menards and fits multiple sizes. Misses the crank sensor too.

thats what I thought, then again I am very familiar with all of these tactics having worked in a general auto repair shop as much as I have. Use whatever tool you have made for the job first. If it doesn’t work grab that beast with the channel locks. If that doesnt work pile a hole. Some guys who were never taught the right way to do it really tighten those things on there.
