cracked oil tube from oil tank on 2010 harley 48. almost empty on oil. need advice
Hi Guys,
i found a oil patch under the bike this morning. It seems i got a cracked oil tube after i cleaned the oil from under the oil tank and the other parts beneath. The oil dipstick has barely a oil mark on it. i had no alarms on the dashboard.
Please can you guys advice on how to replace it, and what i might need to check on the motorcycle.
last time i used it was Friday after my daily commute.
Seems kind of early to have rubber cracking like that but it does happen, just use a hack saw to cut off the crimps and take the hose into an auto parts store and buy a chunk and two gear clamps and replace it, fill her up with oil and away you go.
Would be a good time to check all your rubber hoses, might have more that are starting to crack too.
You could take this opportunity to upgrade to a stainless steel braided hose, will last longer and look good too.
replace the hose. easier than it looks. lucking for you, it's the drain hose. it's not connected to anything other than the drain plug and the tank nipple.

thats exactly what iam looking now, i will use the truck to work. I am wary to use it without a total check on it. Do you guys have any checklist on thinks to look out and check.

i looked again and it seem to be the oil drain line. how is it possible to get it cracked. is this a known issue guys.

Oil deteriorates rubber plain and simple. It give some dealers job security for overpriced service..
The V-Rod rear breather hoses constantly failed like clockwork. I have seen breather vent lines on twin cams swell and oil feed and return line breakdown from the inside.
