hey guys i am needing to change my front motor mount on my 03 flht. i was looking at it and it looks like i need to remove my regulator and and the bracket to that bolts on to the motor. is there any tricks i need to know before i get started?
You need a way to hold the bike solid, preferably a table lift. Put a jack with a block of wood under the moter. Remove reg, stabalizer link from frame, andmotor mount center bolt. Raise jack enough to take motor plate off of mount. Loosen plate to motor bolts but leave nuts on. remove mount to frame bolts, lift engine enough to remove mount. Replace w/new mountinstall bolts but leave loose. Lower motor some and tighten plate to motor bolts. As you lower motor, center mount under plate and install center bolt. Lower motor all the way down. Install link bolt to frame and torque all bolts to spec!
Hogdoc, it sounds easy but what about alignment?
Plus would you recommend blue locktite #243 ?
Also is Harley's new style front motor mount in
your opinion ok?
Thanks,
Glen

Glen, if the bike is secured on a table and you lift the motor straight up with a flat jack the alighnment should be fine, its still attatched at the top link and the rear mounts. But you could have the dealer check it if your concerned.
We haven't seen any problems with the new mounts, they seen fine, I dont noticeit being "to stiff" on my own bike.
Never a bad idea to use blue loctite on chassis bolts!
