I’m installing Kahuna heated grips on my ‘19 FXLR and I bought the “required” plug-n-play accessory wiring harness kit. While installing it I noticed this unused gray connector under the left side cover. Is my bike pre-wired for some accessory, or did the first owner have something installed at some point? I have the manuals but didn’t see it in there.
BTW the $40 non returnable accessory wiring harness kit doesn’t have a two prong Deutsch connector to plug the grips into. It has a square 4 prong connector, a standard 3 prong inline accessory connector and 3 bare wires for splicing in. So much for plug-n-play.
Yeah, I picked up that harness today. Local dealer sold me the wrong harness (599A), I had to return it and drive 45 miles to a different dealer to get that one.
On a different note, I noticed a splice in the clutch side power wire (not the crossover wire) about 2/3rds of the way down. Looks like there are 3 wires in that bundle, but then a red and a red/yellow wire are soldered together and covered with heat shrink. Is that normal. I bought these Kahuna grips from a neighbor who took them off her new trike because her hands were too small for them.
