When I was growing up, I saw many custom bikes around town. A lot of them were on rigid/hardtail frames with a Springer front end. When I had my chance to buy a Harley, I went with a Springer because it resembled the old hardtail look but with modern suspension .
Because they do it for me. They look right, feel right, ride right, and behave right
I came from the hotrod car world working with GM LSx cars. A choppy idle that would make stuff in the garage shake, but with the modern frame design that had the engine sitting perfectly still. That's what did it for me, so my Softail's counterbalanced engine is what does it for me too. The cams I put in it will hopefully take care of the rest (few weeks away from getting the heads/cylinders back)
The rest was because of my dad. He went from cars to bikes when he was younger too, but sold his when my sisters were born. Years later when he came back to riding his first pick was a 2002 FXSTI. I made it a point for my first bike to also be a 2002 FXSTI, and I will not part with it
