Ordered my shotgun
The SS is a sealed unit.
From a write-up I did a while back:
"..One great feature of the SS is that it’s a sealed unit, which means that if you would ever lose power to it or pinch or damage the air line that feeds it, it will retain its current height and rebound.
It’s nice knowing you won’t need a tow should anything happen to it.
In fact, if you were to set it up exactly as you wanted and had no intention of ever changing it again, you could literally remove the compressor and all of the associated air lines, switches and wiring and forget about it. Seriously..."

nope, wasn't joking.
BUT, to be fair, it the thread says suspension or is about suspension - I skip over it. not that there's anything wrong with upgrading one's motorcycle, more power to you that do. I know me... and I'm not gonna do it to my bike.

The ONLY things that have not been touched, rebuilt, replaced or modified on my bike are the tins, tires and the frame. SS is the 1 mod I would NEVER go without. To the OP, your going to love it but give it time to learn the system. This is my 3rd year on mine and I still play with it all the time.
Your going to think your on a new and different bike and when you get it pretty well mastered you'll be all smiles. Dont worry about the "haters", soon you'll understand why we love them and why those who dont have them bad mouth them.

For what ever reason I could care less about the Slam look but just want to double check. Do people get the Shotgun more for a cool way to lower the bike or is it more about the smoother ride over stock?
I ordered to get a smoother ride. I like the lowered look my bike is lowered. Hoping that when I install it, it will let it look cool lowered when parked, but also be able to raise it and fine tune the ride for my load. smoother ride and less dragging pipes and floorboards in corners.
Can't wait to get it installed

I got it for both, but now I never ride slammed or even park slammed. I just like the smooth ride and how easy it is to adjust between solo and 2 up riding.
Lowered like that, it's more comfortable than the stock height. You could lower it even more and be more comfortable then at the stock height.
In other words, it works so well there's no reason not to lower it, at least a little bit. If for some reason you feel the need to be at stock height or even higher for the tight twisties, you can do that too.
Hope that helps.
I bought mine for both reasons. And the ride quality is hard to explain until you actually ride one. It's a very sturdy and comfortable feel since the SS is one solid unit rather than a softail dual shock setup.
To add to it, you can't beat the customer service. I'm in England and in an 8 hour ahead time zone. I've emailed JD during the middle of the night (CA time), expecting a reply later in the day and to my surprise, he replied within an hour. If there is ever a problem, he stands behind his product 100% and will make it right whether it's sending you a whole new kit or talking you through the fix. You just don't see that type of guarantee/commitment much these days.
