Default Dual front discs on a Fatboy?

The front brakes on my '02 Fatboy aren't that great. I've installed new pads, cleaned the system out and put in new fluid and bled the system, so they are about as good as they are going to get. I feel that with an almost 800 lb. motorcycle with a 225 lb. rider, it would really benefit from a dual disc setup. Has anybody here done a setup like this on a FL softail? I'm thinking that a lower fork leg, disc, and caliper could be added from say a Road King, and with the proper plumbing it should be not too terrible or expensive? Any help would be appreciated.

I was thinking about the same thing on my 02 FatBoy and found a write up on another forum where the person did this mod.

Looked like to much work to me and I decided I would eventually try and either fit a Brembo caliper or one of the after market calipers to the bike instead.

I had a 2002 Night Train. The brakes were poor also. I looked into what was required, and just decided to get the Heritage with ABS.

Back in the day I had an FXR Sport which came with dual discs up front. They looked cool, but really didn't work much better than the single discs I was used to.

Had same thoughts regarding my '01 Fatty. Dual convert way too much trouble (IMHO). Better (easier) upgrade is the single left side Brembo-HD caliper, EBC rotor (300mm) and Magnum Shielding brake line. New caliper requires DOT4 fluid. Also, Progressive Monotubes reduce front dive. Do a search on Brembo conversion will get you details.

Get a PM 6 piston caliper and a braided stainless brake line. It will make a big difference. There is no simple option for dual discs on a fatboy. There is not a softail that has dual disc lower legs so you would have to find a way to get lowers off another bike like a bagger. I have a customer who used bagger lowers to make his fatboy dual disc but he had a shop do it so he did not have specifics on what all was needed.

Yeah, after looking at what is involved, it seems pretty expensive and / or lots of trouble. May look into upgrading the single disc and caliper instead.

Yeah, Hogpro already solved it for you. Someone else had asked about this a few weeks back.. what's included:
You need a new front wheel with a hub drilled for the rotor to bolt in to
You need a reversed caliper that will fit whatever rotor you buy
You need a new lower fork leg so the caliper can mount to it
You need either a new master cylinder, or figure out a way to pressurize dual brake lines (however touring models or Dynas do it)
and you'll need new brake fluid.

It's always in the back of my mind to do this, because i agree, my front brake doesn't stop me worth anything. And really it's not "hard", just expensive..especially because of the front wheel.

But like Hogpro suggested, get a 6 piston caliper. I'm considering the RSD 13" free floating rotors and caliper, but that's a ton of money and i dont like how RSD's logo is plastered all over everything.

Maybe JayBrake or HHI's 6 piston caliper..not sure yet.
