Default Tire Pressure

I have a 2005 Fat Boy with the standard disc wheels. My dealer says if I use 40# of air pressure in both tires, it will extend the life of the tires. I never ride 2 up. The owner's manual says when riding single to use 36# of air.

Anyone ever heard of 40# of pressure extending tire life. I have my doubts.

Thanks,

Wolf

Default RE: Tire Pressure

My bike calls for 36#/single & 40#/double. I always ride with 40#. Ride is a little rougher but I'm lazy and don't wanna mess with putting air in/letting it out. The tires will run a little cooler with the higher pressure and that might lengthen the life. Try it and see if you like the way the bike feels. If it isn't too harsh when singling-up, leave it and enjoy!
