Default 2000 FXST frame up redo

Ok so I have a 2000 Softail standard that I picked up this time last year that needed some TLC. I've been riding the hell out of it this season but with winter setting in and my fist daughter due any day now it's time to tear it down and go through it. A little background on the bike, the previous owner had the frame powder coated purple and said the Motor is punched to a 96" but I don't believe that, although this thing runs great and it seems faster than my 07 night train.
They also said the tranny and forks were new/freshly rebuilt, the tins are black with blue/blurple tribal flames so the whole bike looks like a bruise (which I can't stand) so this winter will be paint and body work along with doing a 200mm swap in back. So now I'm asking all the knowledgeable ones on here for any insight and advice on what might cause some issues and what I should do with the motor since it's going to be on the bench and I don't trust what the last owner said. The performance is fine as it is but a little more is never bad and reliability it a major one do to the fact that I don't want to tear it back apart when I get it back on the road.

You must be one strong dude to hang it from the ceiling like that!
Check the tensioners, replace the inner cam bearings, if it hasn't been upgraded to the hydraulic tensioners, you may want to consider it or think about going to gear drive cams as crank run-out shouldn't be an issue. An oil pump upgrade if the above hasn't been done. Headwork? Just some things to think about.

What about open primary? I've always liked the look and rode a shovel with one for a while, not necessarily practical for everyday transpo. Thoughts?
