Default Considering a used Fatboy

Previous bikes include 2 ultra classics and my last a Dyna super glide. The superglide was by far my favorite, until it came to highway riding. It was way too light and got blown all over the road. Looking for a heavier bike but not necessarily a full touring bike. My only concern with the Fatboy is that it sits lower to the ground and would diminish tight turns. Anyone who can provide insight would greatly help. Looking at 2000-2006 Fatboy's.

I bought a 2007 for my wife a couple months ago, it's fun to ride. I actually have more miles on it than her but ain't no way it can replace the ultra. 100 or so miles and I'm squirming in the seat ...... AFA deep turns, I haven't had issue yet.

Real happy with my '05, ride solo as it's an 88 c.i. and it lacks a little power for long distance two-up riding. I travel alone Long Island to Vermont, about 450 miles round trip no problem, handles fine. It weighs in at about 750 lbs with me on it, but never been pushed around by wind or traffic. It's a good bike.

Now is the perfect time to buy. I bought my 02 Fatboy exactly 3 years ago today. I live in MN and bought it sight unseen from Chicago Harley for $7500 (+$300 for shipping). Yeah, I know, a bit risky. But it only had 13,000 miles and came with V+H pipes and Corbin seat. No complaints after putting on 11,000 miles. Btw, it came with a few very minor boot scuffs on the pipes and a small little dimple in the front fender. Anyways, you'll find deals this time of year. Good luck!

Btw, have scraped the boards a couple times.....not a big deal.

The boards are hinged so they will fold up if you lean a little to far. No worries!

Not a huge issue with cornering clearance, scrape fairly often and have probably 1/4" or more worn off the edges of the boards. We'll see what next year brings with it being lowered now.

I have the Fatboy Lo and I love it!! I scraped the board one time so far but it wasn't an issue. it doesn't get blown around and handles great; I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

I have owned all the different types of air cooled Harleys and softails are my favorite and the the only Harleys I will own. Softails define what a modern classic cruiser should be. They are often imitated but never duplicated. Having said that if your into tourers you should stick with tourers. The differences between softails and every other cruiser is a difference you either love or hate but one thing is for sure there is nothing like a softail.
