I'm gonna go with a one cable throttle set up and see how that works for me. Don't see why it'll be a problem. Wanna keep the look as clean as possible.
I really like the look and simplicity of only 1 cable as well. However when removed the idle cable on my 99 Softail the throttle grip had a TON of play in it at rest. it would spin towards the front since the idle cable wasn't there to stop it. anyone else have that issue? Even with the pull cable adjusted all the was out it had a lot of play.
OP sorry not trying to hijack your thread I just firgured if I am having some trouble you may run into it as well.
I had a 02 sporty, the idle cable broke and I ran it with just 1 for years. It did have a lot of play in it. I thought it was just because the throttle cable was wore out. The bike had about 80k miles on it.
Put the throttle cable on. Looks nice with just one cable on but at idle the grip rolls forward easily. That **** makes me feel a bit uneasy. Haven't ridden it yet. Gonna give it a couple of rides to see if I get used to that feeling.
Anyone have an idea on how to keep the throttle from rolling forward ?

Adjust the cable until the handle stop is pretty close to the throttle stop?
The majority of my bikes have been single throttle cable. Then the lawyers sniffed out some ways to make money. Now we have the dual cables.
My friends 36 only has one cable and it doesn't even have a return spring on the carb (the way Harley made it no less). If your's hangs (that's why there is two.. one to pull on and the other to pull it back) just cut the key off. If you must have decor over safety, so be it. Just as long as you are aware.

The throttle body on my bike has a really strong return mechanism on it. I might just get the idle cable anyway. Gotta feel it out for a bit, all that slop on the grip at idle is pretty annoying though.
