Thanks for the help guys. Now I have a little understanding for my conversation with my dealer. Warantee is a big issue for me because I just bought the bike new this past June and want to keep it valid for the next year and a half.

I was put in a position in September where I had to dump my 2013 Slim or take out two other bikers. I did roughly 8K worth of damage including one head. Back at the dealership (Vehicle City HD, Flint, MI.) for the rebuild I replaced the stock heads with Screaming Eagle 10:1 shaved heads ($700.00). Since the engine was tore down already I threw in the HD 255 cams and bought the HD Pro Tuner ($450.00) and a new set of Rinehart 2 into 2 flush mount pipes ($750.00)

Prior to all of this my Slim had High airflow intake with Vance and Hines BigShots and a download. Dyno numbers for that setup was 81 hp and 94 ftp torque. After the accident with all of the above changes and 3 hrs on the dyno with the pro tuner my numbers jumped to 90HP and 114 FTP torques.

The cost breakdown at Vehicle City HD would be: Tuner $450.00, Heads $700.00, 255 Cams $330.00, Rinehart Pipes $750.00, 5 hours labor @ $85.00 per, and 3 hours on the Dyno @ $85.00 per. For a total of $2,910.00.

Red face Clutch Basket?

I know I'm a little unfamiliar with performance but, what the heck has the clutch got to do with cam lift performance? I'm completely confused by that one.

Default Dealer Said?

Dealer Tech told me, "If I decide to use adjustable push rods (like S&S shorty's) I would have to readjust them about every 5000 miles". Excuse me? Sounds like they want extra bucks for removing the heads, tank and so on. It would seem to me, if they don't move, (lock nuts coming loose), I don't understand that one at all. Never run into anyone that has changed cams and used the adjustable type or even shorty's saying they had to readjust them. Anyone ever heard of that one?

Also, I assume if I do this and especially if I do the work myself, The warranty goes out the window, right?

He is wrong. Don't let this guy work on your bike. Ever.

I did 255 cams in my 2013 103 softail and really am thrilled. Like you, I was concerned about warranty implications, so I decided to stick with Harley cams. I scored a used set with like 1000 miles on them for short money, and had the dealer do the install. Have not yet had it dyno'd because I plan on doing duals this winter. Bikes runs great though and pulls hard. Would definitely recommend them to a friend.

255's in a Softy.. I'd never recommend them to a friend for a Softtail...
They were made for Heavy touring bike riding 2 up and loaded...
Plenty of bottom end, but they fall off earlier than most all other cams... in other words,, about 4k rpms and they are done and will start to fall

Plus they really need CR's which the new 103's have, but they can be Pingers in hot weather if not turned Righteously.

I glad your happy and a lot of members are and if you ride mostly in the 2K-3K rpm range and never go above 4500rpms you'll never notice how they fall off.. but there are a lot of other cams that do great down low and will last longer into the 5k rpms easy..

The clutch basket in question has a 49 tooth ring gear as opposed to the stock 46 tooth gear. This lowers your gearing giving you more mechanical advantage, like a 4 or 5 increase in torque.similar to changing your front pulley to a 30 toother, but a lot easier.
