I have the thundermax installed on my street glide. When I installed it i had big dreams of modding it. The Tmax would allow me to incrementally change the tune as time goes. Since then I bought a softail to play around with and decided the glide will remain a rider for reliability and ease. Though the Tmax is very good, its not perfect. Ive always had hot start issues and every once and a while I lose the gauges. All things I have learned to live with but at the same time, the stock ECU wouldn't have those issues. I also always find myself tweaking the Tmax. Since my bike is staying a stage 1, I wish I had went with a simple canned tuner and just leave it alone.
IMO it depends on how far you will take it. If you just have a stage 1 and expect to stop there, I would stay with the SERT as you likely wont gain much, and at worst, maybe you just need a better tune. If you want to slowly change parts over time or go turbo/nitrus, then Tmax is for you.
