No pics because its a bone stock 08 Rocker (Not C...I'm not much for chrome).
Current plans-
powder coat everything that's "blonde" to a gloss black
Vance and Hines black big radius with slash cut
paint the engine black and grind the sides to give it a billet look
cut the hell out of the rear fender and relocate the brake light and license plate
currently in Iraq so it will be a little while before I get to execute but I'm trying to learn all I can before I get home and start chopping things up
Mostly all electrical stuff, same as the rest of the softail family. in '11 the key doesn't have to stay installed to ride you just turn the ignition with your hand as long as it isn't locked, and you have the advanced digital trip meter, which includes dual trip meters, a clock, distance to empty, and a TACH with gear indicator for all six speeds. The ECM and entire wiring harness changed as well, but the key and Tach did it for me, those with being able to have the last year was the selling point for my trade.
They got rid of the hand grenade ignition in 2011?!?!?
I missed that.
No, it still has the grenade ignition, just like the Breakout. The difference is your key is only to lock or unlock the ignition and or fork. The handgrenade ignition can be turned on and off by hand without installing the key
I saw the 11's had a different key setup. I like that the key does not have to stay in the ignition like the older Rockers.
I was wondering if the 2011 ignition setup would work on an 08 Rocker? If there was an electrical change it may not be compatible.
Anybody look into this?
I don't think it'd work, cause the '11s have full can bus wiring, but maybe.... all else fails, all ya have to do is grind the little tit off of the key, that holds it into the lock and then you can turn it on and pull the key. It's not a perfect solution but it works, I did it to my old Rocker, as well as all of my tool boxes...
Our local Honda dealer has had an 08 with 5K miles and very low price on the floor for at least 2 years with the SE110 motor. I have been so tempted but all that God awful gray color is every where and it would have to go. Not sure I really want to tackle that project currently. These bikes have always caught my eye as long as the passenger seat is not installed.
That grey is not that hard to change man. I wasn't a big fan of it at first, especially because the motor is also that grey color.
But I have seen some pictures of bikes with that grey on the motor and other parts of the bike and other colors blended in and let me tell you man, it looks phenomenal.
Wish I would have saved the pictures.
