I've got a 2008 night train with PM Gasser wheels. The front wheel is a 2.15 and i want to put on a 3.5. I found one on eBay that says it fits up to 2006 fxst. My question is, if i swap out the bearings, will it fit? Has anyone done this before?

I swapped out the 2007 NT 21" stock wire wheel with ( 25mm bearings) to a 23" x 3.5 also using 25mm bearings....stock axle....centered the new wheel , machined the spacers to accommodate the wider hub.....and obviously had to ditch the front stock fender .

A wheel off a 2006 or earlier bike used a 3/4 inch axle. You can purchase bearings from All ***** Racing with the correct OD to fit the rim and and correct ID to fit your axle. Cutting spacers to center the rim is easy but the unknown piece of the puzzle is that once the rim is centered, will the brake rotor align correctly within the brake caliper. If the rotor alignment is (Slightly) off, material can be machined from the rim or spacers added to the caliper but these modification must be performed correctly to keep the system in safe order.
Personally, I don't like chopping up wheels or brake components forcing them to fit. Contact Hog Pro. They can hook you up with a "Bolt-On" wheel of the size you want.
