Okay I am breaking down and getting a new exhaust system Just not satisfied with my SE slip ons. I was till I hit the road and mine is too quiet. I am trying to decide between the V & HBig Shots or the big radious. And the Rinehart Jug Huggers. Do most of you here like the longer pipes or the shorter pipes?
Depends a lot on how your bike is set up and what kind of look you like. I have the SE 16 gauge double barrells (no longer made) on my Fatboy and I like the way they look and sound. The tailpipes are slash cut and end right about at the rear axle. If I were thinking ofchanging them, I'd look real hard at the Big Radius pipes. I just like the way they look but not sure how they'd go with my bike. Good luck and post pics when you've decided and have them on the bike.
I like the V+H BSS...but that's just my personal opinion. Pipe selection is dependent upon the look you are after and the sound you like. The selection process is far from objective!
But know one thing...ANY aftermarket pipe will sound better than stock! JMHO
I have the big radius and would not do it again. reasons:
1. I dont like the support V&H provides after the sale. Presales is excellent. After you bought it and have an issue they do not seem to be supportive and just say "thats the way it is"
2. I also do not like the tone (sound) that pipes make at highway speeds. Its a RASPY type sound. just grates on your nerves. They sound good ideling or accelerating from a stop.
3. If you want to have a quieter baffel they do not make one for it. Their other model of pipes have a quiet baffel option.
I would probably have done it over again with Hooker's version (Troublemakers).
Reason I went with them was because there was a map for the PCIII USB for this pipe with SE Airfilter. So I figured it would be easy to install the PCIII Map without dyno tuning and get within 90% of tuning.
I ordered my pipes b/c I like the look. I have yet to see another bike with my pipes. I am okay with the sound, don't love it, don't hate it. I still love the look, but will probably go with a 2 into 1 at some point.
Mine are Hatchets by Porker Performance. Can't speak of their customer service b/c I've never needed them. I guess that's a good thing.
I went with Cobra Speedster long slashdown exhaust. I like the look of the longer pipes on my Fatboy. I really like the sound they produce. Their customer service was great before and after the sale.

longer pipes = slightly less noise, better for long cruising.
short pipes = max bark, but you tend to get pounded by exhaust resonance when riding for long rides.
