Default Floppy Saddle Bag Straps

It always aggravated me when I could look back and see my Heritage saddle bag straps flopping around. I tried velcro which worked fairly well for quite a while then lost it's grip. Then I tried tabs made of 1/8" flat aluminum shaped to the bottom of the strap. worked fine until about 80 miles per hour. Hopefully I have found my cure. Glued Neodymium magnets to the strap and bottom clip. Those things are awesome. Hit 90 on the way home and no problem.

It's always refreshing to hear an innovative idea.

I'll have to try that, I was only up to the velcro stage (that wasn't working).

Tandy sells magnetic snaps that can be glued on.

Also another way to fix the problem ...

I took an old belt the same or a little less as wide as the straps. Cut four pieces that was 1/8 thick by 4'' long and 1 1/2'' wide. Just enough to go between the end of the strap to just below the buckles.

Then used some Good leather glue (Amazing GOOP) is what I've found to be the best to bond them together Ends up being a 2 ply leather on the strap ends that is snug fitting and so stiff they won't blow out of you loops

this also works great and its been 5yrs ago when I did it, they won't / don't fly out any more either.

Maybe mine are different, but I've never experienced any "flopping". Mine are tight?

I have two that come loose so apparently the leather softens just enough that they slide out of the loop.

The other two never come out.

I don't think the leather straps gets softer, I think some of the straps are a little Thicker/Heavier/stiffer weight leather than others..
