Apes have the cool factor and some swear by them for comfort. I like my arms straight out when I ride, not pointing up. To each there own!

Over the years I have had bikes with clip-ons, drag bars, beach bars and apes. Each has its detractors, but for cruising and comfort, The Heritage style bars have to be some of the best.

I want to get a pair for comfort i hope. But i need a pair that will work with my fairing and with a 1.25 clamping area.

1973. Yamaha 350. Been rolling apes ever since.

Some people like Coke, some like Pepsi. It's a personal choice thing.

I do get a kick out of the people who 'don't get it' when they have never done 100 miles with apes.

Please tell me that you sold the Yamaha but kept the Corvette.

Yes I agree, but also had Z bars on one of my bikes back then.

Damm this is sad! I starting to feel old, thinking of those bikes. LOL

I am 6 feet tall, long legs, arms and torso. I was not comfortable on my deluxe stock. So I put on highway pegs, and 16" apes. Made the long trips so much better. No more twisting around being uncomfortable.
And its a personal choice. Everybody likes different things. And they just look good.

Maybe the people who are new to HDs or came from street bikes are jumping on them now and that's why you're noticing the high number of peeps talking about apes.
a combination of the two of these might be the best answer yet.

Sorry, but apes will always remind me of these bicycles.

They came and went pretty quickly, so it amuses me somewhat that some of these styling influences are still embraced by a few motorcyclists.

Yup, I had one of these bicycles, and had two or three motorcycles with apes in the early 70s. Been there, done that.

I got them because I thought they looked good on a Heritage...after I rode with them for a few thousand miles, it'll be hard to go another direction.
